Sophie Mercer thought she was a witch. That was the whole reason she was sent to Hex Hall, a reform school for delinquent Prodigium (a.k.a. witches, shapeshifters, and fairies). But that was before she discovered she's actually a demon, and her hot crush, Archer Cross, is an agent for The Eye, a group bent on wiping her kind off the face of the earth. What's worse, she has powers that threaten the lives of everyone she loves. Which is precisely why Sophie decides she must go to London for the Removal, a dangerous procedure that will either destroy her powers for good--or kill her.

But once Sophie arrives, she makes a shocking discovery: someone is raising new demons in secret and planning to use their powers to destroy the world. Meanwhile, The Eye is set on hunting Sophie down, and they're using Archer to do it. But it's not like she has feelings for him anymore. Does she?
I started reading Demonglass right after I finished Hex Hall and I was more than happy to be able to do it this way. I loved this book just as much if not even more than the first one. Demonglass captivated me from start to finish, it was a fantastic sequel.

Sophie Mercer already wasn't that happy about being sent to Hex Hall when her witch powers got her into some trouble. But then she found out she's not a witch, she's actually a demon. Scared of what she might do to her loved ones in the future, Sophie decides she wants to go through the Removal. That means traveling to London to spend the summer with the father she has never met. And of course there's the fact that the Eye still seems to be out to get her. That means that Sophie needs to deal with her crush on Archer Cross. Because if she doesn't, it might just get her killed.

If I thought there was a lot going on in Hex Hall, it was nothing compared to everything that was happening in Demonglass. And much like with the first book, once I started reading Demonglass I just couldn't seem to put the book down. Every time I told myself I would stop reading after just one more chapter, I never managed to stop until I had read the whole book. It was that good. There's just something about the way Rachel Hawkins writes this story that makes it very addicting. And of course the story isn't just totally addicting, it's also a lot of fun to read. The reason the story is so fun: the characters, especially Sophie.

I absolutely love Sophie Mercer, and I can say that she has become one of my favorite characters of all time. She has this ability to put a smile on my face no matter what she did. But at the times when she was hurting, my heart was pretty much breaking. I just can't help but want the best for Sophie. And there was also a new boy in this book, and that boy was Cal. I will say that I am torn between Cal and Archer. I'm tempted to root for Archer because he was first and that's who Sophie wants to be with. On the other hand there's Cal who seems to be the sweetest person ever and really care about Sophie. And I just can't seem to figure out who I want Sophie to be with.

Demonglass was a fabulous read and I am beyond happy to have finally picked up this series. I can't wait to see how it will all come together in Spellbound, the final book in the series. Now if only my hold from the library would come in...
