No one is like Daemon Black.

When he set out to prove his feelings for me, he wasn't fooling around. Doubting him isn't something I'll do again, and now that we've made it through the rough patches, well…There's a lot of spontaneous combustion going on.

But even he can't protect his family from the danger of trying to free those they love.

After everything, I'm no longer the same Katy. I'm different…And i'm not sure what that will mean in the end. When each step we take in discovering the truth puts us in the party of the secret organization responsible for torturing and testing hybrids, the more I realize there is no end to what I'm capable of. The death of someone close still lingers, help comes from the most unlikely source, and friends will become the deadliest of enemies, but we won't turn back. Even if the outcome will shatter our worlds forever.

Together we're stronger…and they know it.

It shouldn't come as a surprise that I have come to absolutely love Jennifer L. Armentrout's Lux series. With every book, it just feels like the story keeps getting more and more intense and exciting and it was no different with Opal. And in this case, it also broke my heart.

Katy is no longer the same person she was when she first moved to West Virginia and met Daemon Black. And that's both literally and figuratively. Because Daemon changed her completely. And despite everything on their plate, Daemon is determined to prove just how much he cares about Katy. And that means lots of chances to unintentionally exposing themselves. But Dawson might be the one to get them all in trouble because he will stop at nothing to get Beth back. But soon Katy and Daemon realize that they are stronger together and they are ready to take down their organization responsible for hurting so many Luxen and hybrids.

This book. Oh this book. So many emotions while reading and I will apologize in advance for the potential incoherence to come. Jennifer L. Armentrout takes everything to a whole new level in Opal. The romance that she has come to be known for is still there, but things between Katy and Daemon have definitely heated up. But that's not the only thing to get more intense. The story itself took me on a crazy ride, and I just didn't want to leave the story. There was so much more going on then ever before. And that ending officially broke me. Just thinking about those last few pages makes me tear up. Because while I may have seen that ending coming, I still didn't want to believe it would come to that. I even kept flipping pages in the hope that it wasn't actually the end.

Katy has made me smile since book one. Whenever I read about her geeky gout over books I can't help but smile and nod along because I have totally been there. So I can relate to her when it comes to that. Having a hot alien boyfriend on the other hand I can't exactly relate to. But I still love the side of her that comes out whenever Daemon is around. And that leads me to Daemon. Despite the fact that for the better part of three books Daemon Black has been a compete ass, I can't help but love him. In Opal Daemon completely redeems himself in my eyes. And he's definitely one of the reasons this book has left me broken. Because Daemon was exactly who I wanted him to be. Dawson was a fantastic addition to the story. He was a bit of a mystery for a good deal of the book, but getting to know him again made the story that much more interesting.

Though it completely broke me, Opal was a fantastic read. Once again, Jennifer L. Armentrout wrote a book I just can't seem to put down once I start reading. But she has also left me absolutely begging for Origin. And I'm sure once you read Opal you will find yourself I the same position.

  1. I can't wait for Origin too. Her cliffhangers are always intense. I just finished the 3rd Covenant Series book. I love her writing so much. Great review!
